Three UK announces 5G mobile rollout by the end of February 2020
In a bid to strengthen the position in 5G technology landscape, British telecommunication company, Three UK is rolling out 5G mobile to cities including Glasgow, London, and Birmingham by the end of the month. Reportedly, the company will be showcasing its 5G capabilities at London Fashion Week, delivering a glimpse into how 5G technology can transform the conventional fashion show. Commenting on the move, Dave Dyson, CEO, Three UK, said that the showcase of their superfast 5G capabilities marked the company’s next step in the 5G journey. The company has collaborated with Central Saint Martins to offer an immersive 5G experience to audience by accompanying technological effects. Dyson added that Threes entry into the 5G mobile market has coincided with the introduction of a broader range of compatible handsets, including the brand-new Samsung Galaxy S20 range, which would spark interest in superfast services. For the record, Three is owned by Hong Kong-based Hutchison which introduced 5G home broadband services in central London last year. However, Dyson claims that Three UK is joining its bigger rivals in delivering cutting-edge services on new 5G-enabled mobile handsets. The company, unlike rivals such as BT’s BT. L EE, said that it would give consumers access to 5G with no extra costs and speed caps on all contracts, SIM-only, and pay-as-you-go mobile network plans. Reports cite that the service will initially be available in 25 cities and towns, developing around 80% coverage by the year 2021. Three said that the company has the greatest amount of 5G frequency spectrum than any of the United Kingdoms mobile operators. Moreover, Three was the only network operator in the UK that has 100MHz of 5G spectrum necessary to meet the criteria of ITU (International Telecommunication Union) for a 5G wireless network.
