AT&T‘s HBO Max streaming platform is on its way to becoming the latest competitor in the live streaming space. Set to launch on 28th may, HBO Max looks like it may probably be one of the best online video streaming platforms, including premium content of 10,000 hours comprising all shows and movies from HBO, Warner Bros. and many more.
Sources cite that users can stream HBO Max shows on all Apple devices such as iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices and the Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K. HBO Max will be available as a native app only for the 4th generation Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K. However, users with 2nd & 3rd generation Apple TV models will be able to view all HBO Max video content from their iPad or iPhone to their TV with Airplay.
As per sources, users who are billed through the Apple TV channels or App Store for HBO will be upgraded to HBO Max at zero additional cost. HBO Max will be available free of cost for some users at launch. Non-AT&T users who want to subscribe to HBO Max have to pay USD 15 per month.
The company will launch HBO max with a handful of original shows and already available content on HBO Go/Now (Game of Thrones, Westworld), Boomerang (Scooby-Doo, Loony Toons), and DC universe (Doom patrol, Titans).
Films and TV shows will be added from TNT, CNN, TBS, The CW, Adult Swim, and series like South Park and the Big Bang Theory. The original content will include Toyko Vice, a "Grease" Spinoff, and Gossip Girl sequel. It will include content from WarnerMedia brands and libraries like New Line Cinema, Cartoon Network, and Warner Bros.
With this move, AT&T’S HBO Max has entered into a crowded video streaming market led by Netflix Inc, Amazon.com Inc.’s Prime Video, and Walt Disney Co-owned Disney+.
