FOSSID, a leading provider of open source software compliance and security tools & services, has recently announced a strategic partnership with BearingPoint. The partnership was formed around the governance of free & open source software.
The modular FOSS services of BearingPoint deliver streamlined processes & infrastructure to govern, manage, and deploy the software throughout the product lifecycle. This, in turn, enables them to manage open source security and compliance. These services also offer a confidential and timely code base analysis of the customers, including security reports and comprehensive compliance for the business decisions.
FOSSID enables maximum FOSS adoption efficiency among various companies by introducing tools that offer high level of automation, privacy, performance, and accuracy. Its code scanner is currently referencing open source projects of nearly 78 million, including 120 thousand vulnerable projects and 600 billion snippets. This scan engine discovers open source software occurrences and identifies the corresponding licenses & license obligations.
These two companies have successfully cooperated on selected projects in the past two years. Through the partnership, FOSSID’s technology will enable BearingPoint to perform code analysis services with high accuracy and performance. On the other hand, BearingPoint will also efficiently improve its productivity and reduce the risks while companies embrace their free & open source software for quality, standardization, or speed of innovation.
According to Donald Wachs, BearingPoint Business Services’ Head, the partnership will significantly cater to customers by delivering accurate and precise results at a higher speed, with less redundancy. The company has successfully replaced the legacy scanning tools with the open source software tools of FOSSID in several large managed service projects for various customers such as Swisscom.
As per the statement made by Oskar Swirtum, FOSSID’s chief executive officer, the recent partnership will help the company become an integral part of BearingPoint’s FOSS compliance & security successes. The partnership also has posed obtaining management services from BearingPoint as an alternative over adding specialists to the number of employees in multiple verticals.
